History
Starting the 2008 season, SK pulled together a completely new Triggers Down team. FearItSelf was first to join the team, fresh from team 5K. Hysteria jumped on board coming from team Rainbow Warriors. After a sixth place showing at MLG Toronto, Karma joined the team replacing Mackeo. Karma was originally on Team Carbon before coming to Triggers Down. Karma has been on winning teams, bringing talent and experience to Triggers Down. Karma left Triggers Down in late 2008, and was replaced by Heinz.
The team has won tournaments at MLG Dallas and MLG Orlando. Their lowest finish of the season was MLG Toronto where they placed sixth at that event. The team was ranked second only behind team Str8 Rippin in the 2008 season whom they have been rivals with since the beginning of the season.
The 2008 season started off at the Meadowlands. Triggers Down was able to advance to the third round by defeating Status Quo in the first round and Type Z in the second round. In the third round, Triggers Down lost to Final Boss putting them in the losers bracket. They started off in the losers bracket defeating Believe The Hype. They then went on to beat Fatal Images to go on to play the 9th ranked team in the tournament, Carbon. They beat Carbon setting up rematch of Triggers Down and Final Boss. Triggers Down was unsuccessful as they lost again to Final Boss putting them out of competition with a fourth place finish.
The next event was at San Diego. Triggers Down started off the first round with a win against Team Arsenal. Triggers Down was also successful in the second round by defeating team High Life. The third round saw Triggers Down losing to team Str8 Rippin putting themselves in the losers bracket and a tough position for a tournament win. Triggers Down defeated team Classic to advance to the losers bracket semi finals. In the next round, Triggers Down toppled team Carbon putting them in the loser’s finals. Triggers Down was unable to finish off team Instinct placing them third at San Diego.
The third event of the season was in Orlando. Triggers Down started off well in the first round by defeating team Ununtrium. The second and third rounds saw wins for Triggers Down defeating team Breaking Point and team Classic. The same was in store for team Ambush as Triggers Down defeated them to advance to the semifinals. In the semifinals Triggers Down came back for revenge and defeated team Instinct to move onto the finals. Triggers Down and team Str8 Rippin competed in the finals. Str8 Rippin was able to take series 1, but with a strong performance in series 2, Triggers Down came back and defeated Str8 Rippin for their first tournament win at Orlando and moving them up in the standings.
The fourth event on the tour was at Toronto, ON, Canada. The first three rounds saw wins for Triggers Down as they defeated teams Vicious Cycle, Active Rush, and Ambush. In fourth round, Triggers Down was not able to get past Instinct putting them in the losers bracket for round five. Things did not go well for Triggers Down as they lost to Team Classic removing them from the competition and down in the standings.
With this tough loss, Triggers Down moved on to the next event in Dallas and with a new teammate, Karma. Triggers Down had high hopes coming into this event because Karma was a fresh face to the team and they wanted to perform well. Starting off, Triggers Down defeated team Ambush in the first round but they were unable to move past team Final Boss in the second round. Now in the losers bracket, Triggers Down was able to get past team Instinct in the second round, team Ambush in the third round, and team Final Boss in the fourth round for redemption earlier. With the win over Final Boss, Triggers Down moves to the championship round to play team Str8 Rippin. Triggers Down was able to pull off a comeback by defeating Str8 Rippin to take MLG Dallas.
There is only one more event to go in the 2008 season and currently, Triggers Down is ranked second in points so far, trailing only Str8 Rippin. The standings as it is shows that Triggers Down trails Str8 Rippin by 2,200 points. Triggers Down is up 500 points over the third place team, Final Boss and 2,170 points over the fourth place Team Instinct. Triggers Down needs a win at the National Championships in Las Vegas, Nevada to take home the big prize, $100,000.
The event starts off with Triggers Down ranked second in MLG Las Vegas National Championships. They will open up play in the first round against Team Carbon. Unfortunately things did not go well for Triggers Down was defeated in the first round by Team Carbon. They lost the series three to two. This would put them in the losers bracket to try and climb back to the top. They would sweep team Ambush three to zero advancing them to the second round of the losers bracket to play team Instinct. Triggers Down would eventually fall to Instinct three to two putting them out of competition. With the loss, Triggers Down finishes fifth at the National Championships.
Disappointed by their low placing in Vegas Triggers Down releases Karma due to his lack of practice and picked up iGotUrPistola from Ambush. Their roster was SK, Hysteria, Fearitself and Pistola. This would not be the only team change for Triggers Down as they picked up Heinz also of Ambush and dropped FearItself.
Going into Meadowlands the 4th seeded Triggers Down's roster consisted of SK, Hysteria, iGotUrPistola and Heinz. Triggers Down's first match of the Meadowlands was against the 15th seeded Heaven and Earth. Triggers Down was able to beat Heaven and Earth 3-1 and would advance to play the winner of Believe the Hype and Classic. Triggers Down was expected to play the 5th seeded Classic but 11th seeded Believe the Hype was able to pull of one of their three upsets of the tournament. Unfortunately for Triggers Down their matchup against Believe the Hype did not go as well as their last as Believe the Hype was able to pull off their second big upset beating Triggers Down 3-1 knocking the 4th seeded team into the Loser's Bracket. Down but not out Triggers Down was able to fight their way back to the Loser's Bracket Semi Finals against Str8 Rippin (Believe the Hype's third upset was beating the 2008 National Champions). Triggers Down was able to knock Str8 Rippin out of the tournament giving Str8 Rippin a 4th place finish. So Triggers Down would advance to the Loser's Bracket Finals against the Winner of 2nd Seeded Instinct and Believe the Hype. Unfortunately for Believe the Hype Instinct would not fall the way Classic, Triggers Down and Str8 Rippin did. So in the Loser's Bracket Finals first to win 6 games, Believe the Hype having the 3-1 advantage over Triggers Down, triggers Down was able to win 5 of the next 6 games to beat Believe the Hype 6-4 one of the best comebacks in MLG history. In the finals with Instinct against Triggers Down, MLG rules state that a team has to lose twice in order to be knocked out of a tournament, Instinct had failed to lose a series, meaning Triggers Down would have to win 2 series against Instinct to be Meadowlands Champions. Not only were they able to do it but they did it in such a dominating fashion beating Instinct overall 6-1. This Win gave Triggers Down the first seed in Colombus.
In the next event Colombus, Triggers Down was able to beat The Dynasty and Classic 3-1. In Winners Bracket Round 3 Triggers Down would be playing against Final Boss. In the first game it seemed that Triggers Down would easily beat Final Boss by getting up 2-0 in the game. Final Boss however pulled 3 straight caps to win the first game. Triggers Down was able to win the next game tying the series 1-1. The next game Final Boss completely destroyed triggers Down giving Final Boss the lead 2-1. Triggers Down then won the next 2 games winning the series 3-2.
Next they would face Str8 Rippin, Triggers Down was able to win the First game, but unfortunately it would be their last as Str8 Rippin won the next 3 games knocking Triggers Down into the Loser's Bracket Finals. Triggers Down was again up against Final Boss but they were able to edge by them again beating Final Boss overall 6-4. By beating Final Boss, Triggers Down was able to secure a spot for the finals. They were once again up against Str8 Rippin. Unfortunately Str8 Rippin was on fire and won the next 3 games beating Triggers Down overall 6-1. Triggers Down finished second at Colombus.
Triggers down played straight through the winners bracket in both Dallas and Anaheim to 1st place finishes.
