The revised Final Boss roster forged before the season opener had much of the MLG fan base hoping that the team would yet again become a serious contender to win events. Following Mackeo, Victory X, and FearItSelf being added to the roster, the team placed a solid 5th place at the Meadowlands. At the following event, Columbus, the team was able to improve upon their previous placement, finishing 3rd after being edged out by Triggers Down in an intense 6-4 series in the Losers Bracket Finals. Although the team's trajectory appeared promising, roster changes on other teams would give rise to Mackeo's release.

Unpleased with 7th place finishes, StrongSide and Status Quo parted ways, sending one of the league's most valued players into free agency. Because of Strongside's history with Final Boss, the team saw it best to release Mackeo and acquire StrongSide for the event in Dallas. Mackeo was forced to scramble to find a proven team and eventually ended up with Ambush, but the new team placed a disappointing 16th. Disheartened by an unprecedented low finish, Mackeo chose not to attend the following event in Anaheim but instead to concentrate on his academic endeavors. With respect from the league's top players and a solid reputation to boot, will Mackeo stage a comeback in the future? Only time will tell.
